Lundy Bat list
Small bats are occasionally seen on Lundy and are assumed to be one of the two commonest Pipistrelle species (Common Pipistrelle or Soprano Pipistrelle). The deployment of two automated bat detectors (Batcorders) in 2014 and 2015 by Geoff Billington and Tereza Rush, and the subsequent analysis of their recordings has revelealed a much greater diversity of species than previously assumed. Their results revealed two species not considered resident in the UK (Kuhl's and Savi's Pipistrelles). Peak activity was between mid-August and mid-September.
